About Me

Hello and welcome to my photo blog. I am Karen McKinnon, a Vancouver Island based photographer - a gal fortunate to be living my passion. The blog is where you can see recent sessions, keep in touch with what is new around here (and I promise you it is never dull) and get a better sense of who I am, what I love and how I show it.

Thanks for visiting. Please leave a comment and let me know you were here - it really does make me smile!

I couldn't resist another blog post, everyone works so hard to make this show happen, and the kids and their excitement always gives me goosebumps.
Thank you everyone, especially the dancers, for a great week -

The famous Dad's Dance, and some musical theatre talent:

I adore how they are all interpreting the dance, ummm.. in such different ways -

Note to Pantuso Parents and Dancers: As per past years, you will receive an email sometime next week via Lindsay about receiving photos. The photos are sent to you complimentary, however there are some guidelines, so when you receive that email from Linsday, be awesome and read it all.

She had me at hello. Ok, well not really, she had me at "I picture something colorful." I love it when clients come with ideas.
Nicholas and Taya also came full of giggles, personality and so much cuteness. These twins were so easy to work with - they kept us well entertained and were wearing my new favorite color.

Serious good times!

Glenice and Donna brought the word tenderness to their session. They probably don't know it, and didn't even expect it - they ride motorbikes, say what is on their mind, play roller-derby laugh often, so tender might not be what one would be expecting.

We started our session on the beach and they watched each other, ready to help as we scrambled down rocks, now these are two very capable gals, neither of them came even close to needing help down this easy path, but still they watched and cared.

Then they melted - that's the only word needed to explain it, they melted into each other in so many photos, who was I to hold them back.

I just couldn't resist another Toad in a Tree post. It was such a fun and spirited shoot - looking at the photos makes me want to go hug my children. I am hearing so much buzz about their creations lately - remember you can check them out at Podlings in Comox and Kidlets in Campbell River.
This quote reminds me of Toad in a Tree, "It is a happy talent to know how to play"  - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thanks once again to all the families that came out to take part in this shoot. I kind of miss you...
