Rita planned a boudoir photo session to surprise her husband for Christmas but just couldn't wait and gifted him the images last week.
His response was exactly what she was looking for saying that "He had his own super model."
Although he thought the session was all for him, us women know that these sessions are also for us.
Rita explained her experience of having a Boudoir session as "Liberating!!!  Karen made me feel so comfortable.  Like catching up with friend I haven't seen in a while.  I think every woman should experience a Karen McKinnnon Bourdoir session."

Thanks Rita!

Here is one of Rita looking like the glamourpuss that she is!

I am thankful. Everyday. I live a life of abundance, something many of us are aware of this time of year. This year though, I am thinking about you. You all play with me. You choose me to photograph what you love. You comment on my facebook page, you smile and say hello , your emails lift me up on down days. You are the web that allows me to grow, create, stretch and have meaning in my work.
As I wrap up  Celebrating Ten years of photographing in what I am sure is one of the kindest communities in Canada (just try telling me otherwise,)  I can tell you that if the next ten bring me the interactions, the lessons and the laughter this one has I will double over with joy. With it will undoubtedly be the continued challenges, road-blocks, questions and self-doubt the last ten years has see me face and for that I will continue to be a better and wiser person.  I will continue to make decisions based on meaning and fun, and promise to always carry heart with my camera.

This town, this community, I love you.

A significant part of what gives my work meaning is collaborating and supporting charity work.  It humbles me, it teaches me, it fills me up and hopefully passes some of that on. For the last ten years I have had the chance to work with numerous organizations as well as quietly give to individuals who needed a little something special.

Your support of my business has allowed me to make meaningful contribution to our community and live a life full of passion, while roll modelling for my children that both are possible.. The special events I have held monthly this year and the 12 Days of Christmas is just a small way for me to say thank you.

Introducing Day 12, where my heart lies:

A part of my business that I have kept quiet is the Boudoir Portraits that I create. What is Boudoir? It is stylish, sexy, beautiful, empowering, tasteful photographs of women.
Over the last year I have become extremely moved by these sessions. Women, typically come in nervous, walk out the door standing a bit taller and with a huge smile on their face. That is even before they see the photos. After seeing the images they are wowed - wowed at seeing their own beauty, proud that they took the step to have the photos created and excited to know that they will have them forever. Many women, have these photos created for gifts for their sweety, but most, do it for themselves. However, if it is a gift, it becomes something that you "give" but is secretly for you.

In order to make these sessions more accessible and to throw a little fun in the mix. I am offering The Boudoir Experience in January. As well as champage and make-up you will also have two photographers taking care of you. Photographing along-side me will be my long-time friend and photo assistant Jennifer Dodd from Powell River.

I know these sessions will fill up fast, so be sure to email or call if you would like to reserve a spot.  I will guide you through the process of what to bring and what to expect.

Also, if you would like to recieve a place as a gift, just pass on our number to your sweetie and we will take care of making sure a gift certificate ends up under your tree.
