I am currently enjoying a little get-away with my mom and daughter in Victoria. I am so thankful to have a job, a laptop, I-phone, and my lovely office manager Christine - all these things make it possible for me to travel and stay on top of work and life!
It seemed slightly insane to leave the office for a few days right before the holidays, but sometimes the things that seem a little crazy are exactly what you need. This time of year is very busy for me at work and home and now after a few days away, and some time with my mama (you are never too old to need this,) I am full of zest to head home and jump back into life and work with buckets of energy. We have had a wonderful few days here and I am thinking I will do a post about it, I come to Victoria often, but rarely with a tourist hat, as I did this time.
Here is the 11th day. I feel excited to announce all the information for tomorow, day 12, The charity give away, but also a little sad to see the 12 days finish off, it has been super fun!

This is a special family. I first met them when we had their maternity session for their first child. It was different session then planned, instead of being in Comox we created the session in Vancouver, near the Women's and Children's hospital, where they had to be due to complications with their pregnancy. They welcomed me into their lives to document their story to share at the YANA 2011 Fundraiser - their heart, resilience and honesty moved me. Their first son Kai and is now a thriving funny little boy, however, the family had to go through quiet the ordeal, emotions and roller-coaster - to say the least.

So little Finley's smooth and easy entry into their family was such a blessing, as was photographing him. This little man, looks identical to his brave older brother, which just warmed my heart.
Finley, your family is so strong and so full of love and grace. You are a blessed little man.

When I first met Adam and Jen - she sat forward eager, grinning ear to ear, he leaned back on the couch, calm, content and attentive to her - I fell for them right away.
She loves how kind he is and accepting of her, he loves her compassion and attitude. They balance each other, and make a beautiful couple.
Their wedding was just right - it was calm, but exciting, it was honest and true, and very joyous. Their families were both so happy - a true indication of how right they are for each other.
The wedding party was a dream-- the girls, like Jen, were gregarious with their ear to ear grins and laughter, and the men, happy, content and funny.
I have many memorable moments from this day, but the fave, head and heels above the rest, was during their first look before their ceremony. When Adam turned around, he was speechless, until the word "beautiful" stumbled out of his lips, again and again and again.... It was a moment filled with emotion, sweetness and joy - which set the tone for a stunning day.

Every few weeks I was writing a love list and it seems to have fallen by the wayside, but I am bringin' back the love baby (sorry, couldn't resist.) Technically a list only needs to have two items and because it's a holiday weekend, I think I can get away with one.
For the last few days I have been doing a cleanse, and as the sun sets so does my energy - a little web surfing has been all I have had in me. This is where Pinterest has come in.
Pinterest is a place to organize all those items you find on the internet that you want to remember about - a great idea for a renovation, a favourite piece of jewellery, art that inspires or recipes that belong on your to-do list.
Now instead of bookmarking them in my bursting overwhelming easy to forget bookmark folders I pin it.
I just hit the "pin in" button on the top of my browser and then drop it in my custom named folders. I can then access it from any computer and even better, share it with any friends who are also on Pinterest.
You can also browse peoples folders on Pinterest and find inspiration there.
An invite is needed to join, so if you would like one, leave me a comment below or on our facebook page with your email address.

As part of the Helping Hearts collective I met with Krystal, Andrew and their little boy Conner to provide them with some very special photos. Helping Hearts is an organization that pairs photographers with families of critically ill children to provide them with complimentary photos.
I was so touched by this families story, their positive attitude and hope. In Krstal's words:
"When I was 18 weeks pregnant I had an ultrasound and they told us that our baby had Trisomy 18 and we would have to terminate the pregnancy. We decided to have an amnio done and that came back clean. Next they told us that our baby was missing part of his brain, eventually I had a fetal MRI done which showed that his brain was normal but that my baby (boy) had a diaphragmatic hernia(a hole in his diaphragm). Because of this his intestines were growing in his chest and his lungs would be smaller. To fix this our son was intubated as soon as he was born (va cesarean) and put on a breathing machine. He had successful surgery when! he was 4 days old. We stayed with him in the hospital for 25 days and got out on Christmas day! 2 weeks later Conner was breathing really fast so we took him back to Children's hospital and after waiting for 4 hours we were told that he had a hole in his heart (VSD) and would need open heart surgery. So at 5 months old he had open heart surgery and aside from some fluid around his heart he was given a clean bill of health. With everything that we went through and everyone saying that we needed to terminate the pregnancy, I knew in my soul that my baby was going to be ok. I had a very positive attitude that continued after Conner was born. He recovered in record time according to the doctors and I believe that it is partly because of our positive thoughts and prayers."
Conner is strong, healthy and so loved - he is an incredibly blessed, not to mention adorable, little man. Thank you for sharing with us.
