Amy and Brad are beautiful people. They are funny, they are sincere and they are madly in love. As seems to be the theme with my clients this month, they are embarking on a new stage in their life as yes, they are getting married, but  ..... afterwards they are selling their house and travelling for a few years. They are true free spirits.
In August, I will get another peek into their love for each other when I photograph their Tofino Wedding - I can't wait.  Amy and Brad, you simply put, are adorable.

It was the first wedding of the summer season. I had high hopes. Thoughts of a day that focused on the the reason we are were there - friends, family, celebration and commitment.
It was, perfect.
The weather, despite a dismal week, was lovely. The location, Olympic View Golf Course, was beautiful and bursting with green, and the bride and groom, were stunning.
Kyle and Lindsay and I had never met in person, many phone calls had occured, where they spoke of their photo nerves and how they were uncreative accountant types. But really, I didn't believe them. The wedding they put together was full of class, flair and whimsy - (hello, dream world amazing candy table,) and emotion and they were so at home in front of the camera - Kyle even busted out some dance moves for us. Never mind the fact that they are both gorgeous!

Lindsay and Kyle, thank you for having us, and it my sincere hope that you were able to take in all the love and adoration that surrounded you that day - it was powerful stuff!

Enjoy your photos and than you for the kind words you sent us (once again, you were awesome in front of the camera!)

Thankfully the summer holiday came just when it was time. It is time for me to walk into the kids room in the morning and tell them to take their time getting ready, it is time for me not to have to say "you need to hurry" three times a day, it is time for me not to get frustrated when the 7 year old is still singing away in bed at 11 p.m., it is time for us to be unscheduled, it is time for a big long slow breath.

The last few months of school always see me hanging on, feeling unmotivated and frustrated with the day to day kids schedule. So, the summer break came just when this parent needed it, before my parenting patience went to the dogs.

This summer I am trying a new schedule. I will be hanging with my camera Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Monday through Thursday I will be with the kids during the day and working in the office at night.
Of course, Christine will be in the office during the day and I will be popping in each day to make phone calls and put together my to-do list for the evening office time.
So ya'll will still be well taken care of.

I feel really good about it.

We started yesterday, I was out with two of the girls, and they had a request for a stop they wanted to make. I said, of course, but that we would have to watch the time. Then it hit me.

We didn't. We could be as long as we wanted. It freaked me out, I called John, who was totally busy doing something else,  and kept him on the phone for five long unnecessary minutes verbally processing how weird it was.

Welcome summer holidays.

Here are two of the fabulous sessions I had last week. Both of these clients inspired me with their bravery.

Leslie, who I am sooo glad I met. She fascinates me.

And Kari, Jean- Francois and crew, are picking up and moving to Dubai. They are just doing it - choosing their own adventure. They totally and completely wow and motivate me to make sure I am living fully. This town will miss you!
We headed out to one of their favorite spots to create photos they will have as a reminder of this gorgeous place we live in (and yes JF, the ones down by the lake look fabulous as well.)

Leslie:

Karen,
Thanks for a very fun photo shoot. You were endlessly patient with my dogs who were shifting about, turning their heads the wrong way and sneaking in a face lick here and there. It is evident that you have a passion for what you do, an enormous talent to make beautiful photos and a deep, sensitive heart to bring out the best in people.
Leslie

Oliver, you are a lucky little man. You have the most charming, fun big brother and parents that are smart, intuitive, loving and relaxed. Not to mention that you are rockin' a really cute newborn hairdo and oh, how adorable are your little lips?
