I have wonderful clients. They are kind, fun, beautiful and they care about others. So, when Eva called and asked if I could help her out by spreading the word about the fundraiser she was involved in for Ovarian Cancer of course I was in.
In talking with her I realized how unaware I was about Ovarian Cancer. She told me about how she was moved to step-up to the plate and participate when she started thinking about how no one is immune to cancer, and with Ovarian Cancer the scary truth is that there are no screening tests and the symptoms are typical to what women experience monthly.
Ovarian cancer affects one in 70 women, and that it is estimated that in Canada in 2009, 2500 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer and 1700 women will die from it.
After just spending some time on the Ovarian Cancer Canada website I can see why Eva was moved to get involved.
Eva has taken on the volunteer position of co-chair for the Winners Walk of Hope walk in Comox Valley on Sunday, September 13th - you can find out more information about the walk on on their website.
As a lead up to that event there will be a silent auction this Friday and Saturday at the Whistle Stop Pub from 5 to 10 p.m. The auction will close Saturday night. There will also be regular 50/50 draws. All proceeds will benefit ovarian cancer research.
and if you bid on the gift certificate that we donated I promise to bring an extra present to your session!
